Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Susan G. Komen is the boldest community fueling the best science and making the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, they have invested almost $2 billion to fulfill their promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 50 countries.

My Clear Backpack has proudly sponsored teams in the Louisville, KY and the Detroit, MI races yearly. Our team knows first hand how devastating breast cancer can be to the individual and their families and friends. We have proud survivors within our ranks and we actively support them. In turn we support the community beyond our company by providing financial donations and assistance, education, person to person support and counseling as well as being an outspoken and visible company in support for the cure. Through our efforts we believe we can make a difference.

KHS is the oldest animal agency in Kentucky and the largest animal welfare organization in the state. As a private, non-profit animal welfare agency, KHS finds loving homes for more than 6,000 cats and dogs a year. For more than 125 years, KHS has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of unwanted animals each year. Thanks to the community’s continued support, they’re making Louisville and its surrounding areas a better place for our four-legged friends and the people who love them. KHS does more than you probably think! Not only are they here to help the area’s homeless cats and dogs, but they’re also here to help you have a better relationship with your beloved companion animal.

My Clear Backpack actively supports the KY Humane Society financially and through our employees time. We believe in the ethical and humane treatment of all our animals and that is not limited to just cats and dogs. We also support their annual Tuxes & Tails fundraising event which is the largest they have. This is our local Humane Society. They are in almost every area of the country and most have their version of Tuxes & Tails. Please support your local Humane Society as we do.

Paper and Pencils, Inc
www.paperpencilsinc.org
Paper and Pencils mission is to provide school supplies and other materials needed to
support learning, to disadvantaged children and schools in the Mississippi Delta and other impoverished regions of the US.
Paper and Pencils, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, came into being when our Founder and Director, Mary Ann Hillier, watched a Sundance Film Festival documentary winner, "LaLee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton." In an heart breaking scene, one of the Wallace children, Grannie,  cries because she can't go to school not having a pencil or paper. Her grandmother, LaLee Wallace, stands out side her trailer talking with neighbors trying to find someone who has paper and pencil to spare. Ms. Hillier was so troubled by the thought of a child missing school for lack of such basic materials she decided something had to be done to help. That something became Paper and Pencils, Inc.

My Clear Backpack supports the education of our children as they are the future for us all. We gladly participate in Paper and Pencils annual drive every year in order to help them provide much needed supplies to those children who need them most. Please support education, especially from the children's direct needs, wherever you live and work. Paper and Pencils is an excellent choice if you need a place to start.

Blessings In A Backpack
www.blessingsinabackpack.org

Blessings in a Backpack provides elementary schoolchildren who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal. There are 20+ million children in this country who are at risk of hunger. The consequences of hunger are much more than a growling stomach. Poor nutrition can result in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. Children are fed during the school week by federal government programs, but we want to make sure they’re getting nutritional meals over the weekend, too. Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding nearly 62,000 children in 437 schools in 42 U.S. states and three countries - Canada, Colombia, and Haiti. The program is a hybrid of private sector funding and public partnership carried out in public schools. They are feeding the future of America, one school at a time.

My Clear Backpack again sought the need to support our children. We actively support this organization financially and with our time and effort. We will continue to look for ways to help our children have a happier, healthier path to attaining a proper education and self worth. This is proven to lead to greater achievement and in the end that benefits us all.
